Troop 360 History
A big part of our history can be seen throughout Oakland County. Eagle candidates and other members of the Troop have planted memorial gardens at several area churches, held activities for underpriveleged children, cleared roads, helped local parks and assisted animal rescue organizations. We have done much of the landscaping around St. John Fisher Chapel, our charter organization. Of course, we have also done a number of projects at Scout camps in the area and at Summer camp.
Troop 360 began April 11, 1997, when St. John Fisher Chapel wanted to form a Boy Scout Troop. Our first 11 scouts came from Troop 101. Since the Troop started, we have had 117 Scouts become Eagles. Most of our Scouts achieve the First Class rank in the first year. We have been lucky enough to have and keep some great Leaders. Although we have had seven Scoutmaster changes, almost all of the Scoutmasters are still active with the Troop. Our first Scoutmaster was Mr. Oberlee. Our second, Mr. Drummer, was originally an Assistant Scoutmaster then became SM. Our third Scoutmaster was Dr. Zwolak. Our fourth Scoutmaster was Mr. Drummer again. Our fifth Scoutmaster was Mr. Quigley. Our sixth Scoutmaster was Mr. Wicklund, who is now an Assistant Scoutmaster. Our seventh Scoutmaster was Mr. Drummer who is now our Scoutmaster again. Our eigth Scoutmaster was Mr. Sorrell, who is also an Eagle Scout. Our ninth Scoutmaster was Mr Wicklund again. Our tenth Scoutmaster is Mr. Drummer (again). Currently we have 11 Assistant Scoutmasters. Among our Leaders we have several members who have earned their Wood Badge Beads, been on Wood Badge staff and are members of the Order of the Arrow (three having earned the Vigil honor).
The Troop is changing Chartered Organizations and will now be sponsored by Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in Rochster Hills, staring April, 2021.
